gastric sleeve surgery

Sleeve gastrectomy, or vertical sleeve gastrectomy. It is one of the newer types of bariatric surgery. This surgery may also be referred to medically as partial gastrectomy, sleeve gastrectomy, tubular sleeve gastrectomy, or laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.

It has been performed in Turkey for the past 10 years and has now become the most common weight loss procedure in Turkey and all over the world.

Why gastric sleeve?

For people who are obese or have health issues that make them ineligible for gastric sleeve surgery, this procedure is an option to help them start losing weight.

Unlike the gastric band procedure which requires adjustments every 4-6 weeks after surgery, there are no adjustments required after gastric sleeve. Because there is no artificial device involved in gastric sleeves, the long-term risks associated with this procedure are lower than those of other procedures.

After gastric bypass surgery in Turkey, patients can enjoy a full range of nutrients more than they did after gastric banding. It appears to be the best weight loss surgery.

Patients will lose an average of 70% of their excess weight after gastric bypass. This weight loss tends to occur in the first 9-12 months after surgery.

This procedure is performed endoscopically through 5 small incisions, so patients will have less pain, fewer respiratory complications after the procedure, and recover faster.

hospital period:

The gastric sleeve operation in Turkish clinics includes a stay in the hospital for 2-3 days. Patients get general anesthesia for the operation.

recovery:

The abdomen is often swollen and groggy for several days. The surgeon may prescribe pain medication due to the discomfort.

After surgery, you’ll need to get used to eating solid foods. This usually involves two weeks on a liquid-only diet, and another two weeks on semi-solid and blended foods before you are able to eat solid foods.

As far as weight loss goes away, most people who have gastric sleeve surgery lose 50 to 80 percent of their excess body weight over the first six months to one year after surgery. Studies have shown that after a gastric sleeve procedure, people show improvement in diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea within one to two years. These improvements are significant compared to those seen after other weight loss operations.
